Surfs Up with Karin Fong

We’ve all been waiting for the next podcast to air. You the listeners, the readers, and the followers. And us here at SWIM…

But before I tell you about that, I’ll tell you what else we have been up to! Besides general web maintenance, the kick-off of our #SWIMfan campaign earlier this month, conducting interviews, sound editing, and other work we have outside this endeavor, we have finally gotten our Facebook page launched!

You can find us out there at https://www.facebook.com/youareswim We are thrilled for this small feature because it provides a better platform for you to interact with us, to share your thoughts, insight, inspiration, and to suggest things you feel could help us improve what we’re doing. So head on over there, give us a like, and we’ll give you news, updates, and generally cool information.

So yeah…. clearing the waters in front of us of the flotsam and jetsam has taken some time. We apologize for the lull but hope you can understand. But now that we have maneuvered our way from the doldrums, calm waters lie ahead of us. And with it, a delightful episode with guest Karin Fong!

A true visionary in the industry of visual design, Karin is founding member and partner of Imaginary Forces (creative studio and full service production company) and is an emmy-award winner for her design and direction. Her work is renowned and noted for stylishly blending digital design and film making.

Perhaps best known for the title sequence of Boardwalk Empire, Karin has also headed titles for films like The Island of Dr. Moreau and Bedazzled, headed countless commercial spots for the likes of Lexus and Target (and others), and has also dabbled with game trailers like Sony Playstation’s God of War 3.

In our interview with Karin, we learn the story behind the founding of Imaginary Forces, discuss ways to find inspiration even in the face of rejection, and gain some insight as to where Karin’s unique mashup of traditional film and modern digital spring from. It’s a fun and enlightening interview we here at SWIM are stoked to have you hear.

So get ready to download our 5th episode with guest Karin Fong. It will post VERY SOOOOON… on Soundcloud and on our website. Keep a watchful eye on our Twitter feed and Facebook page for that info. Between now and then, check out the previous episodes if you haven’t done so already, they’re all out there.
